At the Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America (FOBANA) Convention, Bangladesh’s renowned singer T.W. Sainik was honored for his remarkable contribution to music and his widespread popularity. This 38th annual convention was held in Maryland, USA, from August 30 to September 1, 2024, where he received the award. His song “Tumi Amar Ghum” is a favorite among Bangla speakers, with very few people not having heard it. This song, among other original tracks, propelled him to great popularity and made him a beloved singer among Bangladeshis worldwide. Apart from Bangladesh, T.W. Sainik has received numerous awards for his music in countries like India, Australia, and many others.
When asked about this recognition and how he feels, T.W. Sainik said, “Every artist hopes and wishes deep down that at least one of their original songs will be loved, appreciated, and become popular with the audience. That’s a lifelong endeavor for any artist. I consider myself very fortunate because my song ‘Tumi Amar Ghum’ has stayed in people’s hearts for over a decade and a half, remaining on their list of favorite songs. From that perspective, singing this song has been fulfilling, and I express my gratitude and love to my listeners. I thank the Almighty for this. What more could an artist ask for? I never imagined my first original song would be so praised and become so popular. This is my greatest achievement.”
For this song, T.W. Sainik has also received several awards, including the Benson & Hedges Star Search Award, Citycell Channel | Award, CJFB Award, BABISAS Award, Indo-Bangla Friendship Award, Sydney Natyam Award in Australia, among many others.
Now, during his trip to the U.S., he has earned yet another honor and been recognized once again. Known for being modest and low-profile, T.W. Sainik requested his audience to keep him in their prayers, hoping to continue delivering quality original music.
Expressing his feelings, he said, “I extend my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the organizers of the 38th FOBANA Convention for honoring me and encouraging me to continue singing. Thanks to the entire team of Prothom Alo USA. I also want to thank
IBTV USA, TBN24 TV USA, Millennium TV, and all others.”
It’s worth noting that aside from being a singer, T.W. Sainik is also one of Bangladesh’s top cinematographers.
